Type BC53-88 fitting has been designed as a variable angle in-line connection, adjustable through 202°.

An entire structure should not be constructed from Type53-8 or any other swivel fitting, as these types would not provide sufficient stability or rigidity in the structure due to the free rotation of the fitting.
